The little treat search

A tiny search area. A few familiar smells. Let that busy nose take the lead.

Suggested stages: Puppy · under 6 months; Adolescent · 6–24 months; Adult · 2–8 years; Senior · 8+ years.

Let’s try it.

  1. Let your dog watch you put a few pieces of food in easy, visible spots.

  2. Say “find it” once and give them space to investigate.

  3. For a second round, move one piece just out of sight. Finish with an easy find.

Make it easier

Use one visible piece at a time. For a puppy or senior, keep everything within easy reach.

What a good moment looks like

Your dog searches willingly and finds the food without needing lots of help.

Know when to finish

Pause if they become frustrated or start eating floor debris. Keep other pets away from the food.

Times are suggestions, not targets. Stop sooner if needed. Health restrictions take priority over age filters; ask your vet about activities if your dog has pain or limited mobility.
